Women Hair Transplant

It is a very common question among females, am I a candidate for a hair transplant? In a short answer, yes. Women can actually have hair transplantation but treating hair loss in females is completely different than treating hair loss in a male patient. About 50% of the females that present for hair loss have some sort of underlying cause related to it other than just a genetic predisposition.

About 50% of the females that present for hair loss have some sort of underlying cause related to it other than just a genetic predisposition.

So, the first mindset when the doctors see women in consultation, is they really dig into their history why they’re losing their hair and try to identify if there is any medical condition related to it. A lot of time, it’s hormonal, related to the perimenopause period, anemia, and thyroid issue. What the doctor needs to do is to identify these things before putting patients on a treatment plan.

Once all that is taken care of and the patient has no other issues, and if doctors think it is related to a genetic predisposition, then the patient will go ahead to decide if the hair loss is diffused or more localized, so that doctors can actually harvest the hair from the back of their head to put it into the areas of concern and if this is the case, then the women are actually a candidate for hair transplantation.
